Strategic Communications Model

Strategic Models are used in every aspect of our lives. Communication is the back bone to every form of thought, expression and verbal and nonverbal encounter. The successful communicator will not only construct and encode the message, but ensure they are open for feedback and follow up. In order to be a successful communicator you need to be respectful of your surroundings and approach the person you wish to communicate with, in an appropriate professional and/or personal manner. For instance, if you wish to address your teacher, elder or higher-up at your company. Make sure to address them accordingly. If you wish to communicate with a co-worker or casual friend, make sure the context in which you send the message is appropriate for the situation. Messages can be lost or misunderstood in many ways. Ensure your communication has shared meaning, and no interference or (noise) to block out your intended message.

A Strategic Model is a great way to prepare for an oral presentation. The chart below is a model of communicating to an audience during an oral presentation. It goes in further detail and shows you how with the help of strategic models, you to can give a great speech. Or as the model states, “The quality of your communication determines your personal, professional and business success.” Giving a great speech is fundamental to any presentation. Having a well thought out model to help you construct it is a sure fire way towards success. It will help you with any anxiety that you may have going into the situation. Set your self goals and if needed personal reminders to remember to connect with your audience, after all if you do not demonstrate a professional level of communication competence then the shared meaning and your message will either be ignored or lost. Take a look at the model for some ideas on how to prepare and master your next speech. http://takingcontrol.com.au/communication-skills
